Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1+ years Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This opportunity is for an experienced Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) to support K-12 students in a school setting located in Rutherfordton, NC. This contract position is available for the current school year (CSY) and focuses on delivering crucial services that enhance student independence and mobility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized orientation and mobility programs tailored to the needs of students with visual impairments.
  • Assess students' mobility skills and environmental interaction to facilitate safe and effective travel.
  • Collaborate with educators, parents, and allied professionals to integrate mobility goals within the students' educational plans.
  • Provide direct instruction and support in the use of adaptive equipment and techniques.

Qualifications:
